While we were in the Lido Restaurant, we heard a muffled announcement "Man Overboard" but it turned out to be a drill for the crew. We did not hear that part on the announcement. Any way, every thing continued normally.
Just received a current copy of our onboard statement. Charges do mount up overtime.
We are rounding the Greek peninsula today on our way from Athens yesterday to the island of Corfu tomorrow. Then onto Dubrovnik, Croatia, Ravenna, Italy and we disembark in Venice on 28 October. We spend 2 nights in Venice at the Bauer Hotel near St. Mark's Square and then fly back to the States on 30 October.
Highlights of the cruise part of this holiday so far: Shore Excursions have been excellent and the onboard entertainment. - the nightly shows in the Royal Court Theatre have been superb. Each show is just under an hour long, and is performed twice.
The food could be better in the Britannia Restaurant, but in some case has been very good... Other evenings adequate. The food in the Lido Restaurant has generally been excellent with more variety.
And that is where we had lunch this afternoon with two of our dinner table mates, Jill and Rodney. They live in Perth (Western Australia) but are originally from England.
Managed a bit of exercise - walking today... 4 times around the Promemade Deck and then around the shop, inside and outside. Susan rested. I also did some laundry. How exciting is that!
Tonight was the 3rd and last formal night, so out came the tux. Very good dinner with a fancy menu including Baked Alaska, which is good, but I don't know why it has become such a tradition on cruise ships. We also had the parade of chefs....another cruise ship tradition. Just glad they didn't have the breakfast crew come out.
Meanwhile the airline saga continues. The printout from Cunard and what is actually shown as confirmed on the Delta website don't match, so I sent emails to our travel agent, and to Cunard. My money is Delta, which is the original schedule.... 6:35 am from Venice to Amsterdam, then to Detroit and the to Columbus. Cunard shows us flying out at 7am to Paris and then to Detroit. Big difference. We shall see.
Tonight's photos are of Susan and me and our table mates, Arto Szabo and Dee Lewis from Greenwich, Ct..., also our waiters, Rodrigo ( standing behind Dee) and Joel ( standing behind Susan)
