The MS Queen Victoria is the 5th of the Cunard Queens and when she entered service in 2007, was the 2nd largest of the Queens - yet considerably smaller than her sister Queen Mary 2. While she does have a strengthened hull for transatlantic crossings, she is primarily designed for cruising in calmer waters. Yet she does embark on a world cruise every January.
The Queen Victoria was supposed to enter service earlier, but the original hull, already under construction was transferred to P&O lines, another British line also owned by Carnival Corporation. The hull became the Arcadia; design changes were made and a new ship came out of the Fincantieri ship yard in Italy. The Cunard Queen Victoria was named by HRH the Duchess of Cornwall (AKA Camilla), the wife of HRH Prince Charles. This time there was no confusion about the name of the ship! (remember, the original Queen Mary was supposed to be named after England's most beloved queen... Victoria. The king thought they were referring to his wife, Queen Mary.)
The Queen Victoria is a modified Vista Class cruise ship, a design used mainly by Holland America Lines. also owned by Carnival Corporation. These mid-size large ships can go through the Panama Canal and carry just under 2100 passengers.
Following are some photos of a few public rooms on the QV. I did not take these photos, but I'm sure you guessed that already.
